Michael Banks is an award-winning cinematographer based out of Atlanta.  He has over 20 years of visual storytelling experience.  His career started as a newspaper photojournalist.  Then he worked for CNN for 10 years in live control room technical production for all of CNN’s various networks (CNN, HLN, CNN International, CNN en Español, and cnn.com).  During his tenure he won 4 Peabody Awards (team awards) while covering Hurricane Katrina, the 2008 presidential elections, the BP oil spill and the Arab Spring uprising.

Michael’s experience in the news industry has helped shape his naturalistic cinematic visual style to be emotionally true to the scene being filmed (narrative, commercial, or documentary) while serving the client’s needs and executing the director’s vision.

Michael is a Varicam LT owner/operator.
